Its main material is zinc oxide. The lightning arrester is usually connected between the grid conductor and the ground wire, and sometimes it is also connected near the electrical winding or between the conductors. The core element (resistor) of metal oxide arrester (MOA) adopts the advanced formula based on zinc oxide, which has very excellent nonlinear (volt ampere) characteristics, that is, under normal working voltage, the current passing through is only micro ampere level. When over-voltage is received, the current passing through can reach thousands of amperes instantly, so the arrester is in the conduction state and releases over-voltage energy, thus effectively limiting the damage of over-voltage to power transmission and transformation equipment. The traditional SiC arrester has the disadvantage of high steep wave discharge voltage due to the delay of steep wave discharge, and high working wave discharge voltage due to the large dispersion of working wave discharge. Zinc oxide arrester has the advantages of good steep wave response, no delay for steep wave voltage, low residual voltage, no discharge dispersion, etc. The protection margin of steep wave and working wave is greatly improved. In terms of insulation coordination, the protection margins of steep wave, lightning wave and working wave can be almost the same, so as to provide the best protection for power equipment. The composite sheathed metal oxide arrester adopts the overall injection molding process of two end packaging, which has good sealing performance, excellent explosion-proof performance, pollution resistance, no need to clean, can reduce the occurrence of wet flashes in foggy days, and is resistant to electrical corrosion, aging, small in size, light in weight, and easy to install and maintain.
